My kids love pushing buttons. When I told them to get in the car and buckle up, they immediately crawl into the driver seat and start to turn on the blinkers and push all the buttons on the radio. You know just touch every button on the dashboard. I'm sure there is a complex calculation of how long it takes me to put away the stroller and all the toys we drug with us. I think they gauge how much time they have to play in the front seat before I get around to buckle up Caleb and start fussing at them. So when I started the car last night on our way home from Jay's softball game the dashboard lights were off, the hazard lights were on and the rear window wiper was on. It was very exciting. The kids were having a ball tuning on the lights above them in the car. It was dark out so it was so much more amusing then during the day. Of course I thought of the repercussions of them playing like this, so I yelled back to them. "Now turn those off when we get home." In the hustle and bustle of tired kids and a crying toddler I didn't double check that all the lights were off. So I got all the kids ready to go out this morning to speech and run errand to find that the cars battery was completely dead. Ugh!!!! I am not the best with anything gas powered, I don't know how to jump a car or hook up a car battery. I called Jay at work and we walked me through the process. It is obviously not charged yet because I'm sitting at home with these three little monsters who will only be pushing my buttons today...
*** So in the attempt to be independent and charge the car myself I realized that I had forgot to plug the charger into the wall. Well we have two chargers so one was plugged into the car but not the wall and the other was plugged into the wall and not the car. I know it is not rocket science but car upkeep and repair is not for me.

First Blog
I'm not a journaler. I feel like I'm talking to myself when I write in a journal. I love to talk on the phone but once the story has been said, it's gone. So I created this blog to share the happenings at the Hurtado house. I can easily retrieve it and I don't have to worry about my handwriting. I have been blogging a few years on MySpace but not all my friends and family are on it. This site is a better way for people to check in and see what we are up to without having to be a member of a site.
As most of you know, we are living in sunny Florida. We love it! We have brought out my parents old Mater Craft. It has been a great family activity and hobby for Jay. Jay tries to bring it home every weekend but with the storms and weather we have not had it in the water much.
This weekend Jay brought it home and we took it out last night with our crew. The kids are great boaters, well a majority of them are. Kate and Jack get in and put their jackets on, they jump in the water every time the boat is stopped. Caleb cries, eats and sleeps on the boat. He is not too happy about his bulky life vest and finds standing, the best position. He falls every time the boat accelerates, then cries. Last night we didn't get out until 5pm and the sun was falling fast. Jay brought along a few buddies from work and everyone got in a good run on pretty smooth water.
Today we went out with Jay's old boss and his two kids. They rented a tube, and the kids actually liked it. Kate and Jack both took turns riding with me. We got some good pictures of K8 riding with me but the camera was put away during Jacks turn. We parked the boat for nap time and Jay and I gave the boat trailer some much needed repairs. We recarpeted the runners and side panels. We went out for a little evening session and loaded the boat back on our refurbished boat trailer. It went on snug as a bug, the newly carpeted fender panels eliminated one of our spacing issues. This doesn't seem like a big deal to you but it's huge to me!
Tomorrow we are taking the kids to the pumpkin patch. They are so excited. Mostly because there is a bouncy castle and petting zoo at the pumpkin patch. I'll have to take some picture and work on writing a blog for that. We are all going out for Jay's baseball game too. The weather has been amazing and every minute we can be out enjoying it the better.
*If you want to frequent my blogging page and you are somewhat of a grammar guru, don't get annoyed with my lack of editing. I can't help that I am spelling impaired and can't resist a run on sentence. Just think of it as a fun little game of I Spy.
